Getting to the Thiel Gallery
By Bus No. 69
Bus 69 toward Blockhusudden runs several times per hour to and from the Thiel Gallery. Starting from Karolinska institutet, it runs via Odenplan, Norra Bantorget, Cityterminalen and Sergels Torg (opposite Åhléns department store, next to T-Centralen) and then via Hamngatan, Nybroplan, Strandvägen, Berwaldhallen, Ambassaderna, Museiparken and Manilla. Get off the bus at the stop called Thielska Galleriet.
Do not take bus 69K, which only goes as far as Kaknästornet.
Drive along Strandvägen, keeping to the right at Berwaldhallen, then through Diplomatstaden and past the museum park to Kaknästornet. Continue over the bridge as far as Manilla and then turn left. Follow Djurgårdsvägen and pass Sjötullsbacken, the gallery’s official address. There is a car park to the left. Leave your car in the car park and take a short walk up the hill to the palatial white building on the hill.
You need to distinguish between the two bridges that are, respectively, Djurgårdsbrunnsbron and Djurgårdsbron. Djurgårdsbron takes you to the Skansen open-air museum and does not give access to Blockhusudden and the Thiel Gallery. The car park by the gallery is known as “Blockhusudden”.
On weekends, visitors to the gallery may arrive by boat from Nybroplan in downtown Stockholm. The boat to Lidingö stops at Blockhusudden, a very short walk from the Thiel Gallery. A timetable is available for download here.
