In spring 2026, the Thiel Gallery will present an exhibition of works by the famous Swedish artist and children’s book author Elsa Beskow (1874–1953). Beskow was seminal to the creation of Swedish children’s culture in the late 1800s and the half-century that followed. She is famous for her books about The Children of the Forest, The Tale of the Little, Little Old Woman, and the stories about Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender. Her illustrations and stories, along with the songs of Alice Tegnér, are still enjoyed by many Swedish children. The exhibition features several original works, lent to us by museums and private collections.
Enchanted Daily Life. Elsa Beskow is produced by the Zorn Museum in Mora, where the exhibition was shown in 2024, celebrating 150 years since Beskow was born. It is curated by Gitten Skiöld and Fia Lindholm, and complemented by the Thiel Gallery
