Concert No. II – 1925 and the Jewish Heritage

Tre tonsättare: Fanny Mendelssohn, Erwin Schulhoff, Felix Mendelssohn.

Concert series during the anniversary year✨(1925–2025)

This year the Thiel Gallery celebrates 100 years as a museum with a concert series in three parts specially curated for the anniversary. You can either buy tickets for the entire concert series or for the  individual concert dates: March 18, August 26, November 18.

Together with the string quartet HYMM, we explore the museum as a living work of art with music and the visual arts in inseparable symbiosis. It will be a journey where every note, every brushstroke and every word are intertwined to create an experience beyond the ordinary. Several of the composers were contemporaries of the artists represented in the collections.

Erwin Schulhoff's music was banned by the Nazis and he died in a labor camp in 1942.

About the string quartet HYMM

The four experienced chamber musicians formed the string quartet HYMM in the spring of 2020 when the corona pandemic broke out. With limited opportunities to play for audiences during periods of social distancing in society, a longing was born to delve together into chamber music, music in the small format.

In 2021, HYMM celebrated Stenhammar's 150th anniversary with several concerts and a concert film on YouTube. In 2022, the quartet, with the support of the Swedish Music Agency and the Helge Ax:son Johnson Foundation, carried out a concert tour with the Kreutzer Sonata and Intimate Letters by Leoš Janáček together with the actor Hannes Meidal. In 2024, HYMM released a recording on CD and Spotify with music by Haydn and Mozart together with the horn player Johan Ahlin. HYMM is an acronym, formed from the first letters of the musicians' first names.
